Here are the answers to some of the questions we get asked regularly. If there’s anything else you’d like to know, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Q. What dishes would I prepare during the class?

Dishes vary, depending on your taste, the season, and the availability of fresh and high-quality ingredients in the local market. They usually include an antipasto, or starter, a pasta dish, a meat dish, and a dessert.

As the class is private, it’s possible to tailor it to your personal interests: perhaps you’d like to learn to make pizza, or would prefer a vegetarian menu? Just let Daniela know in advance, and you can agree a menu to suit your taste. (See custom classes for more.)

Q. I’m travelling by myself—can I attend a class with you?

All of the classes offered directly through Daniela’s Cooking School are private, whether you’re one traveller or five. We can arrange for you to have a class by yourself, or to join a small group class with Daniela through one of our partners. If you get in touch, we’ll be happy to help you find an option that would suit with you.

Q. Where is the cooking school located?

Daniela’s Cooking School is located in her house on the beautiful Aventine Hill in central Rome. The class begins with a walk through Testaccio Market – the closest metro stop is Piramide on Line B. Full details of the meeting point will be provided on booking.

Q. Who is Daniela del Balzo?

Daniela del Balzo has always loved food! She grew up in Naples as part of a foodie neapolitan family with a strong sense of tradition. In 2006, after nearly thirty years in marketing, she decided to dedicate herself full-time to cooking. She attended the Diploma class at Le Cordon Bleu, various classes at the Gambero Rosso in Rome, and in Naples at the International Cooking School. She provided catered dinners before deciding to start “Daniela’s Cooking School” and share her knowledge with guests from all over the world. Read more about Daniela.

Q. I’d like to know more. How can I get in touch?

If you have any questions about Daniela’s cooking school, we’d love to hear from you. You’ll find contact details here.

Q. Do you have a special class or menu for children?

Italian cooking is all about the family. If you’re bringing children, just let us know when you book, and we’ll be happy to work with you to plan a menu that the whole family can enjoy preparing… and eating!

Q. Can you cater for vegetarian or other special diets?

Every class can be customized to meet your needs, including dishes that make the most of Italian cooking without meat and/or fish. Just let us know your requirements when you book. (Please note however that, as the kitchen is used to prepare all kinds of different meals, we cannot guarantee that there won’t be traces of nuts, gluten, or other foods.)

Q. When do your group classes run?

Cooking lessons run Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9:30 am until 3:00 pm.
