It’s a traditional cake from Costiera Amalfitana where the ingredients are the typical buffalo ricotta and the Penisola Sorrentina’s pears which are the sweetest an tasty ones in our country. However let’s use what you can get and it will be a delicious cake for your family.


  • 350 gr ricotta
  • 120 gr sugar
  • 1 lemon zest
  • juice of half lemon
  • 400 gr pears
  • 1 tsp backing powder
  • 1 vanilla pod
  • 250 gr flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 100 gr dark chocolate



Peal the pears, and chop them into small cubes adding some lemon juice so that they don’t turns out brown.

In a bowl, beat sugar, ricotta and the vanilla seeds. Incorporate the eggs one by one adding the grated lemon rind.

Combine the flour and the baking powder and slowly add it to the mixture.

Mix energically with the whisk until smooth.


Chop the chocolate and add it together with the pears  into the mixture.

Pour the mixture in a baking pan (of 24 cm in diameter) and cook for 1hour (350 Fahrenheit)
